Adoption files, numerical series - Adelaide Local Court, later Youth Court of South Australia (GRS/7111)

This series contains adoption files created by the Adelaide Local Court, later Court of Summary jurisdiction, then Youth Court of South Australia. The files are titled "In the matter of the Adoption of Children Act, 1925 and in the matter of the application by [Names of adoptive parents] to adopt [Name of child].

The files contain adoption orders issued by Magistrates and, in some cases, birth certificates and other evidence including correspondence relating to the case.

The covers of the files record the following:

- Names of adoptive parents
- Birth name of child (later files only record gender on the cover)
- Notes in relation to the case
- File number

These files may contain more information than the adoption files created by the State Children's Department.

Matters were heard before the Police Court, the Adelaide Children's Court, the Adelaide Juvenile Court and the Adoption Court, later Adelaide Youth Court.

These files are indexed by an alphabetical card system (see GRS 13190). The "Register number" recorded on these cards refer to these adoption files.
