Description
Files in this series contain correspondence relating to sporting and recreational needs, education, events and financial assistance and grants to community sports and recreation groups and the 'Life Be In It' programme.
This series started in 1973 with the creation of the Recreation and Sport Division of the new Department of Tourism, Recreation and Sport. The files are annual single number, but from about 1976, file numbers appear to have been block allocated numbers within this system according to topic (see also GRS 532 and GRS 1974).
In July 1985, the file numbering changed to be annual single number with numerical infix (1). The infix indicates file subject, for example files with the infix '5' all relate to development plans.
This series ended in 1989 when the numbering reverted to a straight annual single number series (see GRS 7396).
Arranged by annual single number, with numerical infix 1986 to 1989, for example 439/1975 and 1038/3/1986.
(1) Annual report of the Department of Recreation and Sport for year ended 30 June 1985. South Australian Parliamentary Paper 165/1985, p.27.
