84 Item 26 Dec 1914 - 04 Jan 1915 File 3162/1914 James Hiern, Destitute Asylum, Adelaide: Aboriginal names and words (West Coast). From Mr Hiern's letter it appears the Engineer-in-Chief, Graham Stewart had written a book that related at least in part to Aboriginal words. Mr Stewart had responsibility for deep-well boring etc. in the interior which may be the connection. No trace of this book can now be found in the major libraries. For biographical details of Mr Hiern and his knowledge of Aboriginal vocabulary see 'The Advertiser, 3/2/1914, p.10.
