Description
On 19 April 2005, Premier Mike Rann announced the establishment of the new Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (DTEI). DTEI has diverse responsibilities in relation to transport system and services, energy policy and regulation, and infrastructure planning for South Australia.
DTEI comprises the following agencies - Adelaide Metro, Energy SA, Microeconomic Reform and Infrastructure Branch, Office of Public Transport, Office for Infrastructure Development, Office of the Chief Information Officer, Transport Planning Agency and Transport Services Agency (Transport SA).
The following agencies were transferred in 2005 from DTEI to Primary Industries and Resources (PIRSA) - Planning SA, Office of Local Government, Office of the North, Office for the Southern Suburbs, Office of the North West, Regional Ministerial Offices (Office of the Murray and Office of Upper Spencer Gulf, Flinders Ranges and Outback).
In September 2008, Electorate Services transferred from the Office of the Treasurer to DTEI.
On 20 October 2011 a new Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure was announced to replace the Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure. The alteration of the Department title was gazetted on 21 October 2011 (see South Austalian Government Gazette, 21 October 2011, p4307).
