Description
The South Australian Totalizator Agency Board (TAB) provides the following services:
- off-course totalizator betting through various facilities;
- facilities include TAB agencies, PubTAB's, Betting Auditoriums and Telephone Betting;
- a diverse range of bet types;
- racing coverage and information provided through form guides, radio, television, Teletext/Austext and Sky Channel.
TAB's corporate objective is to maximise profit returns to the South Australia Government, Racing Industry and other relevant bodies by:
- cost effectively providing and promoting an efficient and accessible betting service to the South Australian community through the network of staffed agencies, PubTABs and Telephone Betting Services;
- developing and promoting products and services that emphasize that betting is skill based recreational activity;
- promoting a service culture amongst TAB staff and agents which is customer focussed;
- developing and maintaining TAB's distribution network to provide a high level of customer service;
- developing and maintaining systems that reliably and efficiently meet the needs of TAB's customers and the organisation;
- providing TAB's staff and agents with development and training opportunities in order that they can competently and professionally undertake their duties.
In August 2001, the Minister for Government Enterprises announced that the TAB had been purchased by TAB Queensland Limited. Final settlement of the sale is expected to occur in January 2002, subject to probity checks by the Gaming Supervisory Authority.
