Description
In 1927 the Children's Welfare and Public Relief Department took over functions of the State Children's Council and Destitute Board and continued some series as part of its own records. On 26 January 1966 the name Children's Welfare and Public Relief Department was changed to Social Welfare Department
Some records of the State Children's Council (GRG 27) and Destitute Board (GRG 28) are incorporated in this group.
