Register of licensed foster mothers - State Children's Department (GRG27/17)

This series contains a register of foster mothers licensed by the State Children's Department to have children placed with them.

The register records: licence number, name and address of licencee (foster mother), how many children the foster mother was licensed to care for, the dates children were placed, the children's names and ages, and comments about the children.

The register is self-indexed alphabetically by the foster mother's surname.

For registers of children placed with licensed foster mothers, see GRG27/18 (1902 - 1910). An earlier register of children and foster mothers can be found in GRG28/15. A register of applications for foster mothers' licences (1899 - 1910) is in GRG27/16 and reports by the Inspectress of Licensed Foster Mothers and Wetnurses (1881 - 1909) can be found in GRG27/19.
