Description

This volume, which is arranged alphabetically by name of doctor, was used to record the names of all State Children (state wards) by district, and the doctor to whom they were allocated for any medical attendance. It does not record actual medical attendance.

Each page is headed with the doctor's name, address, and the district which usually coincides with the District Council area. Appended is the list of children giving name of child, rate of payment to doctor per annum, date of expiry of agreement, date when child placed out and date child returned (to Industrial School, Reformatory or release). As children have left the control of the State Children's Council their names have been crossed out. Date of appointment and resignation of doctor are also given.

The volume appears to be a thorough record of all State wards placed out with foster parents for the period 1909 - 1927.

1 volume.
