Ledger of children boarded out (GRG28/6)

This one volume 'Ledger of children boarded out' includes child's name, age, date of placement, employers' and/or guardians' names and their place of residence. Recommendation, remarks and date of return are also given. Children and employers/guardians are indexed in separate alphabetical lists within the volume.

This volume also contains a separate 'List of children transferred from the Destitute Asylum to the Roman Catholic Orphanage, 1867 - 1869' (which has been registered as GRG28/33).

The bulk of the volume has been used as the ledger of children boarded out, but this volume was also used as a 'Register of admissions to the Destitute Home, Flinders St 1865 - 1868' (which has been registered as GRG28/34). The back cover of the volume is labelled 'Case book - Destitute Lying In Home'. Both GRG28/33 and GRG28/34 have been copied and the copy bound in to a separate volume.

For the period 1862 to 1867, the volume overlaps with the 'Ledger of children boarded out' in GRG27/5, and some children appear in both ledgers. It is not known why separate volumes were maintained.
