City Coroner's reports to the Police Commissioner (GRG5/45)

Consists of Police reports to the Coroner, annotated with the Coroner's decision as to whether an inquest is necessary, and forwarded to the Police Commissioner, via the City Watch House, for his information.

These reports partially duplicate the police reports to the Coroner [GRG1/44], although the report numbering does not correlate between the sets.

The files are arranged by annual single number within financial year, i.e. the file numbering starts at 1 in July and runs sequentially until the end of June the next year.

Some files have been heavily damaged by pests, and there are substantial gaps in the sequence July - December 1929. Files from the periods April to June 1925, January to February 1926 and July to September 1930 are missing.

A number of pieces of evidence from inquests, such as bankbooks have been included in these boxes.
