Description
This series comprises 12 volumes of document registers maintained by the Police Commissioner's Office from 1925 to 1948. Some of the volumes are titled 'Correspondence book', some 'Miscellaneous correspondence book'.
The volumes are divided by tabs indicating the subject or sender of the letter, for example, death and fires, police protection, Attorney-General. Within each of these the incoming letters are registered sequentially, starting at one for each subject. The registration number was then recorded on the correspondence.
Information recorded about the correspondence includes reference number, date, from whom received, subject and how disposed of. Some entries indicate the PCO file number on which the correspondence was filed.
