Description

This series contains a record of Aborigines in the Kingston district including birth and marriage details. It appears that these pages were removed from a volume being the only pages in the volume containing information.

Information recorded includes name, address, date and place of birth, date and place of marriages, name of spouse, and remarks which may include comments about work and family, temperament, physical aptitude, and other personal details.

It is possible that this record was used to identify potential candidates for exemption from provisions of the Aborigines Act 1934 - 1939.

Two pages in a manila folder.

This series has been indexed by the Aboriginal Information Management System (AIMS), a searchable database of names of Aboriginal people identified in key series within the State Records' collection. As at 2015, the database comprises more than 140,000 entries and indexes tribal name, nickname, age, sex, location, description of record, and a State Records reference number. Safeguards are in place to protect sensitive information about individuals.

A search of AIMS is available via the State Records' Aboriginal Access Team.
