Description

Youth and Juvenile Justice was established in 2000 within Family and Youth Services (FAYS), Department of Human Services, as part of the Youth Services Reform strategy to bring the metropolitan community based specialist youth services together to enable, in partnership with District Centres and other youth services agencies, more consistent and coordinated service provision. Youth and Juvenile Justice was re-named Integrated Youth Services in August 2006. It was part of the Juvenile Justice Services directorate of FAYS until August 2004 when the directorate was re-named Youth Justice. Youth Justice is a directorate of Families SA, formerly Children Youth and Family Services, Department for Families and Communities.

Youth and Juvenile Justice/Integrated Youth Services provides youth justice services and youth support services. Those services include Court Liaison Unit, Police Call Out Team, Home Detention, Remand INC (Intensive Neighbourhood Care), Regional Youth Justice Teams and Support Teams, Mentoring coordination, Special Programs for Youth (SPY), ByteBack (providing computers and related support to young people and refugees under the Guardianship of the Minister), Youth Adventure Recreation Services (YARS) and Marni Wodli Youth Accommodation Service. Until 2005 the services also included Youth Justice Psychologists.

The Client File system contains a Type 85 master file and a number of 'sub-file' types. The file types most commonly created and maintained by Integrated Youth Services are the type 85 (Client Contact) and sub-files type 62 (Community Work Program) and type 99 (Community Based Programs).

Two-tiered file number - arranged alphabetically by surname.
