Description

This series comprises volumes of admission records to the Enfield Receiving House, later Enfield Hospital. The volumes appear to have been maintained by the staff at the admission desk, and the basic information recorded in them was later transferred to the more comprehensive set of admission registers (held as GRS 13191).

The volumes record the following information: admission number, surname, Christian names, date admitted (day, month, year), time admitted, name of person bringing in patient and signature, address of person bringing in patient, name and address of nearest known relative and telephone number and examination notes (column unused).

Some entries include whether or not the patient was transferred elsewhere.

In 1979 the admission numbers began being prefixed by the letters 'D' (detained) and 'V' (voluntary) and are no longer issued sequentially from this volume. The number sequence has gaps in it, indicating that the admission numbers are being issued from a different control record. At this time, the registers also record whether or not a patient is "Certified" or "Informal" and whether or not the patient's relevant paperwork (Form 4, 5 or 6A) was sent to Hillcrest Hospital.

The final entry in the volumes is recorded on 05/02/1981.

Arranged chronologically.
