Record of patients admitted - Northfield Mental Hospital, later Hillcrest Hospital (GRS/12215)

This series comprises volumes recording patients admitted to Northfield Mental Hospital, later Hillcrest Hospital.

The volumes include admission number, date, ward, time, name of patient and either the name or the person who brought the patient in or other brief details (e.g. 'St Johns Ambulance' or 'I/A'). Later volumes include name of admitting doctor (where applicable) instead of the person who brought the patient in, and the patient's address.

In the early 1980s the admission number changed from a consecutive annual single number unique to the hospital to a U.R. number unique to the patient.

There is a gap for the period 1980 to 1983.

It appears that the volumes were used to record brief details immediately upon admission, with more comprehensive information subsequently entered in the official Register of Patients. The location of the official Register of Patients is not known.
