Admission and discharge book - Central Northern Region Assessment Unit, Families SA (GRS/12813)

This series contains an admission and discharge register kept by the Central Northern Region Assessment Unit, which commenced operations in 1979. Its function was to provide the northern metropolitan region with an admission unit for short term emergency accommodation for children and young people, and assessment and outreach services for young offenders. The unit has also been known as the Northern Metro Region Assessment Unit and the Gillies Plains Assessment Unit.

The register was kept by hand in a standard government diary. Information captured includes entry number, endowment/DSS number, name, date of birth, age, cultural group, sex, date of admission, where from/address, order/charge, social worker and district centre allocated to, discharge date, location discharged to, and coordinators name.

Entries are made in order of admission to the unit, and are numbered consecutively for each financial year.
