Description

This series contains index cards of the Intake records of the Magill Training Centre and its predecessor, the South Australian Youth Training Centre at Magill. These cards were known as "admittance/admission cards" during the time they were being used. A card was created for each client upon admission to the Centre, and they were filed in alphabetical order by client name.

Some cards, called Intake Record Cards, contain some or all of the following information: client name, address, date of birth, religion, parentage (ethnicity), height, weight and marks, and the names and addresses of the client's parents. They record the date of admission and leaving, the reason for admission, court of committal, sentence and where gone, and the number of days served.

The card system was replaced by "admission sheets" and "running sheets" which are kept in the clients' type 86 files (secure care files). These sheets were originally printed forms filled in by hand, but are now kept electronically, printed out and placed on the file.

Alphabetical system of arrangement.
