Admission register - McBride Maternity Hospital (GRS/13678)

This series consists of a register of unmarried women admitted to the McBride Maternity Hospital.

The register is in the form of a ruled exercise book containing handwritten entries arranged chronologically by by date of admission. Information recorded includes date of admission, date of discharge, name, address, date and place of birth, religion, occupation, expected delivery date, actual delivery date and details about the baby's father. Some entries note whether the baby left with the mother or was adopted.

The rear of the book contains a summary register of adopted infants. It loosely follows the order of the admission register and covers adoptions from 1961 to 1964. It records surname of child, gender, surname of adoptive mother and address.
