Description
This series contains volumes of clinical notes relating to births in the Labour Ward at McBride Maternity Hospital.
Entries include name, doctor and/or nurses present, date and time of delivery, baby's gender and weight and clinical notes relating to the birth. Prior to 1960, the records appear to relate to married women only and entries give married surname only until 1958, when full names are given. Entries for unmarried women are included from 1961. Some give first name only. See GRS 13680 for case books relating to unmarried women prior to 1961.
Sections of writing in volumes 4, 22 and 25 are faded or illegible due to previous water damage.
Volume 41 also contains loose statistical sheets that provide weekly totals of adults and babies in the hospital from 1959 to 1964.
Arranged chronologically by date of admission to the ward.
