Register of admissions and discharges - McBride Maternity Hospital, later McBride Hospital (GRS/13687)

This series consists of a register used by the McBride Hospital to record summary information about the admission and discharge of patients.

Information recorded includes number, name, address, date of admission for patient and/or baby, date of discharge for patient and/or baby, health insurance and remarks relating to the reason for admission.

The majority of admissions were for confinements, but admissions prior to 1974 also include mothers or babies admitted for postnatal care services, and women currently residing at the Hospital admitted for general medical issues.

From 1975, when the Hospital ceased to operate solely as a maternity hospital, patients were admitted for a variety medical conditions requiring hospital treatment. Patients from this date also include adult men.
