Description

This series consists of a register used by the McBride Hospital to record summary clinical information.

For the period 1923 to 1959, information recorded includes name; address; date and time; delivered by; assistant; sutures; infant's weight, gender and health; present at case; nursed by; and clinical history. Most entries give surname only for married women and first name only for unmarried women. Until 1951, a statistical summary of cases is also included at the end of each year.

From 1960, information recorded includes date and time of admission; full name; address; gender, weight and date and time of delivery of infant; position; obstetrician and nurse; remarks; and date and time of discharge. Later entries also include patient's age.

A small number of entries prior to 1974 are for mothers or babies receiving postnatal care services, and women currently residing at the Hospital receiving treatment for other medical issues.

From 1975, when the Hospital ceased to operate solely as a maternity hospital, entries include patients with various medical conditions requiring hospital treatment. Patients from this date also include adult men.

Arranged chronologically.

See GRS 13680 and GRS 13681 for more detailed clinical information and GRS 13674 for patient information.
