Description
This series comprises a record of patients admitted to the Receiving Wards at Hillcrest Hospital.
The first Receiving Ward at Hillcrest Hospital, Litchfield House, opened in April 1969. Litchfield House accepted patients from Broken Hill and areas of the northern part of the State defined as 'B' and 'C' by the Hospitals Department, including northeastern suburbs of Adelaide, towns located north of Adelaide, the Yorke Peninsula and the Eyre Peninsula. Patients from the northern and northwestern suburbs of Adelaide were admitted instead to Enfield Receiving House. It appears that further Receiving Wards, Howard House and Robertson House, were subsequently opened.
The volume records admission number accompanied by a code 'C' or 'I/A', date, time, name of patient, and brief details of the person who brought in the patient or a code (e.g. 'Police', 'daughter' or 'I/A').
It appears that this volume was used to record brief details immediately upon admission, with more comprehensive information subsequently entered in the Register of patients (GRS 14234).
Arranged chronologically.
