This series consists of a volume registering notices relating to patients of Northfield Mental Hospital sent to the Inspector-General of Hospitals for sanction under the Mental Defectives Act, 1935.

The volume records patient's admission number and name, proposed movement and date of movement, date notice sent to Inspector-General of Hospitals, and date notice returned.

The majority of patient movements relate to the granting or extension of trial leave, but also included are other movements such as discharges under various sections of the Act.
