Patients' property book - Northfield Mental Hospital, later Hillcrest Hospital (GRS/15503)

This series consists of a ledger which contains a chronological record of patients' belongings with which they entered the hospital.

The ledger has double page spreads headed with 'Hospitals Department Northfield Mental Hospital, Patients Property Record'.

There are 10 vertical columns on each double page. These are headed: Date of receipt, name of depositor, ward, ward receipt book number, amount, other property received, date other property returned to depositor, and signature of depositor or authorised representative.

Items listed vary from wash kits, jewellery and suitcases to musical instruments and books.

An administrative circular pertaining to property keeping is stuck on the front page. There are various pieces of paper stapled to pages, mainly withdrawal authorities.
