Description

This series contains a register of patients from Enfield Hospital and Hillcrest Hospital.

The register is simply labelled 'Names Book' with no hospital noted, but the admission numbers recorded in the book relate to Enfield Hospital admissions (GRS 13191/1). The book dates from a time when Hillcrest Hospital and Enfield Hospital were incorporated under a single board of management, and wards mentioned throughout the register are from both hospitals. It is possible that this book records Enfield Hospital patients who were also treated at Hillcrest Hospital.

It records: status (whether the patient was voluntary, detained or held under a Court order), admission number, name, age, date admitted, case worker, 'M.O' [possibly 'Medical Officer'], detention order expiration date [from mid-1979], and comments.

For 1980, the format of the register changes and then recorded: date of admission, register number, status (V or D), detention order expiry date, name, age, marital status, sex, doctor, religion, home address, occupation, diagnosis, and further movement and date, although the 'diagnosis' column was discontinued. Detained patients' details were entered in red and voluntary patients in black, blue or purple. The 'further movement and date' column records where a patient transferred to or from (ward name) and when they were discharged. Transfers are generally to or from 'receiving' wards (Anderson, Folland, Litchfield, Markham, Robertson, and Watson).

Arranged roughly chronologically.
