Description
This series consists of two registers of admissions to Hillcrest Hospital from 1965 to 1980, with a gap from 1969 to 1971. The registers appear to have been kept for statistical purposes.
The volume covering the years 1972 to 1980 records: date of admission, number, and name, and has columns indicating whether the patient was admitted or transferred in. Each of these columns is divided into sections for male or female, and 'C', 'I', or 'C/L', although it not clear what 'C', 'I' or 'C/L' means. 'C' possibly means 'certified', 'I' possibly means 'informal' and 'C/L' could refer to a patient held under the Criminal Law Consolidation Act. If a patient was transferred from another hospital, the hospital is noted.
This register is similar in format to GRS 14333, which records patients admitted to Hillcrest Hospital's Receiving Wards. Receiving Wards were for patients suffering mental stress, but whose symptoms were not sufficiently severe enough for them to be formally certified. This register records patients admitted to the Hospital for longer-term treatment, including those transferred from the Receiving Wards.
The volume covering 1965 to 1968 is less detailed and records: register number, date of admission, whether a re-admission, name, male or female and discharge date. The volume records annual summaries of the admissions and re-admissions by sex.
For comprehensive details of patients admitted, see GRS12215.
