Description
This series contains the communication books of the Nurse Supervisor or Night Charge at Enfield Hospital.
The volumes are used to record instructions, requests for follow up, transfers, discharges, patient appointments, absent without leave (AWOL) patients, and and incidents that occurred during the day (titled Day reports) or over night (titled Night reports). The books were also used to note issues with staff, changes in procedures, maintenance of equipment or buildings required and equipment or supplies that need to be re-stocked.
There is one volume labelled communication book containing entries from dates included in the date ranges of other communication books but which varies in content including details about patient mood and behaviour (similar to the Night Charge report books) as well as the format of other communication books. It is not clear whether the volume belongs to a specific ward at Enfield Hospital, was used to record different information, or was recorded by staff other than the Nurse Supervisor and Night Charge. The volume does record details about the same patients and doctors as the other communication books for the same period but the volume has not been used consistently and contains large date gaps.
Arranged chronologically. 7 volumes.
