Description
This series contains "Dangerous Drug" record books from Northfield Mental Hospital.
The books record the names of patients, date, drug and quantity they were prescribed.
The books were created to record the stock levels and issuing of prescribed drugs under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1934. Regulations from the Superintendent of Mental Institutions regarding the handling of dangerous drugs and the requirement to keep records is pasted into the front of the volumes. The volumes record the quantity of each drug in stock in the dispensary every month and amount issued during that month.
The series appears to have ceased in 1963, but it not known if this relates to a change in regulations.
Arranged chronologically within block/ward number. Not all wards have a complete run from 1949 to 1963 but it is not known if this reflects missing volumes or different opening dates of the wards.
