Description
This series comprises records of the various Regional Cultural Centre Trusts [RCCT], which were esatblished under the Regional Cultural Centres Act, 1976.
This Act provided for the establishment of Regional Cultural Centres and to provide for their operation and management.
Theatres established by the RCCT's include the Sir Robert Helpman Theatre in Mount Gambier (1981), the Northern Festival Centre in Port Pirie (1982) and the Chaffey Theatre in Renmark (1984).
The records in this series include minutes and correspondence of the various Regional Cultural Centre Trusts - including Pirie RCCT, South East RCCT, Whyalla RCCT, Northern RCCT, Eyre Peninsula RCCT and the Riverland RCCT.
Also included are records relating to the central administration of the Regional Cultural Centre Trust programme, including copies of regulations and pro-forma to be used by the RCCTs, media releases and press cuttings relating to the activities of the RCCT's and minutes of meetings of the Regional Cultural Centre Trust Managers.
This set of records was maintained by the Arts Development Branch of the Premier's Department, later by the Department of Arts. They appear to have been kept in ring binders, from which they were removed at the time of archiving.
Arranged chronologically within region.
