Private care payment files - Financial Assistance Branch, Department for Community Welfare (GRS/6637)

This series contains applications for financial assistance for private care, created by the Financial Assistance Branch of the Department of Community Welfare. Applications for assistance were lodged by persons who have children placed in their care and guardianship, the parents of whom do not contribute financially.

Fortnightly renewal forms were completed to inform the department of any changes. Running sheets were also maintained to record each payment, overpayment and reimbursement.

The majority of the files in this series do not have file numbers. Those that do have an eight digit client file number, and are type 1 files. These denote Concession and Payments files, also known as Financial Assistance files, which recorded private care payments, and financial assistance (guardian), to applicants with children in their care.
