Ledger cards - Family Maintenance Branch (GRS/6648)

This series consists of ledger cards which record information concerning: Family Maintenance payments; Transaction summary records; Names of Payer/Payee, addresses and amount. A document entitled "How to read the General Ledger Cards" is attached to the list of consignment 3.

Each card refers to a person making maintenance payments, however there does not appear to be an index that cross references names with ledger numbers. For each person making payments is recorded the date, amount of payments made, payee details and relevant court order details. Individual entries can span decades of payments, thereby making access to this series for particular time periods difficult.

For the period 1928 to 1937 entries within this series also appear in GRG65/3 - Register of maintenance orders, although ledger card number is not included, so these entires do not assist with access to this series.

The cards of consignment one have been bound into volumes, while those in consignments two and three are loose. Consignment one and two are arranged by ledger number, while consignment three is arranged alphabetically by surname.
