Description
DESCRIPTION: This series consists of general correspondence files created by the Children's Interests Bureau within Strategic Planning and Policy Division within Dept of Human Services. The Bureau 's 12 members are appointed by the Minister usually for a 3 year term in addition a small number of public servants are employed. Staff have a advocacy responsibility for children who are in need of care or who are in State care. The bureau provides consultation, advice and acts as a reference point and support, for a number of groups in the child welfare, juvenile justice, health and education fields. The records include complaints,enquiries, case files, contact forms Aboriginal related files, committee agendas and minutes together with appointments and general matters concerning the rights of children.
