These records have been deemed permanent in accordance with a disposal determination made for all GRGs by the Manager [Director] of State Records and approved by State Records Council on 9 November 1999.
Description
This series contains photographs of institutions under the control of the Department of Social Welfare and its predecessors, as well as privately run institutions.
Photographs include images of the buildings, as well as images of the children and staff of the following institutions:
- Seaforth Home
- Glandore Industrial School
- Struan Farm School
- Kumanka Boys Hostel
- Lochiel Park Boys Training Centre
- Allambi Girls Hostel
- Magill Boys Training School
- Vaughan House Girls Training School
- Home of the Good Shepherd Girls Training School
- Magill Home for Aged Persons
Also included are photographs of the Department's administrative headquarters and exhibitions of craft work.
User copy photographs are kept in albums in Units 1 - 5, negatives are kept in an album in unit 6 and original photographs are kept in albums in Units 7 and 8.
