Description
Family file, including aboriginal voluntary youth counselling, 'type 91'. Most of these files were raised by the Aborigines Department, Aborigines' Protection Board and/or the Department of Aboriginal Affairs and were given reference numbers based on the annual single number system. When they were controlled by the Department of Community Welfare, the files were given new covers and a reference number based on a single number system; they were subsequently rearranged alphabetically.
Files have been indexed in the State Records' Aboriginal Name Index. Actual files, however, are only available from the Adoption and Family Information Service, Family and Youth Services Department.
