Description

This series comprises one undated typescript report titled "Immigration of lads from the United Kingdom to South Australia for farm and other work"

The report includes various appendices, and records the chronology of the preparatory research undertaken before the introduction of immigration schemes for farm apprentices which commenced in c.1914, including the Barwell Boys scheme which commenced in 1922.

Included in the report are the following:

- Report outlining the proposal for introducing the immigration of lads from the U.K. to South Australia and the legislation being drafted to enact the scheme, undated. 7 pp.

- Report of New Zealand's experiment in the immigration of town lads for farm work, with notes on immigration generally. 41 pp.
