Description
The single volume in this series was a ledger used by the Magill Boys Reformatory (1891 - 1967) and the McNally Training Centre (1967 - 1979).
The headings on each page are: Date, Received from, Particulars, No. of receipt, Amount received, and Payments to State Children's Department.
Entries from a volume dated 1971 to 1976 in GRG 29/119 have been copied into this Cash Book, which is a record of amounts received for sales and services. Amounts referred to as "Boys Own Money" were received from residents of the institution, and were taken or deducted from their earnings for the work they performed. Each payment to the State Children's Department or its successors was the sum of the amounts they received for that date, and the transfer of Boys Own Money was a type of banking for the residents. The entries in the Cash Book also contain details of goods and services provided to other government institutions without receiving payment, and to instances of the death or birth of livestock.
Arranged chronologically.
