Description
This series contains minutes from the Home for Incurables' House Committee from 1880 to 1983. The Home for Incurables was known as the 'Julia Farr Centre Inc.' from 1981.
The House Committee had a range of overarching responsibilities which changed over time. At various points between 1880 and 1893, the House Committee was responsible for: procuring furniture, equipment and supplies; recommending payment of bills and wages to the General Committee; appointing and dismissing staff; approving staff leave; appointing official visitors (visiting ladies); reviewing applications for admission; hearing complaints by staff and residents; expelling or reprimanding residents who did not obey the Home's rules; arranging entertainments at the Home; and accepting gifts from donors.
From 1948, the minute books also contain minutes from the Medical and Admissions Committee and the Building and Grounds Committee. These committees' minutes before this time can be found in GRS 17713.
From 1980, minutes from the Nursing Advisory Committee are also included. The Nursing Advisory Committee reported on staffing, appointments and resignations.
