Minutes - Home for Incurables, later Julia Farr Centre Inc. and Julia Farr Services (GRS/17713)

This series contains minutes from the Home for Incurables, later the Julia Farr Centre, from 1880 to 2007.

The minutes were largely recorded by management committees or Boards, which were known by several names:

March - April 1880: Committee
May 1880 - June 1880 : Full Committee
July 1880 - September 1880: General Committee
October 1880 - c. August 1886: Executive Committee
c. September 1886 - August 1897: General Committee
August 1897 - June 1900: Committee of Management
July 1900 - 1949: General Committee
1949 - 1961: Committee of Management
1961 - July 1989: Board of Management
August 1989 - 2007: Board of Directors

Responsibilities of these committees and Boards varied over time but included: appointing staff, approving applications for admission, approving significant expenditure, and the general management of the Home. Residents are named throughout, especially as admissions and other matters involving residents were discussed in detail at meetings.

Included in the minute books are minutes from the Building Committee, Finance Committee and Medical Committee. Finance Committee minutes were bound separately from 1938 (see GRS 17709) and Building and Grounds Committee and Medical Committee were bound with the House Committee minutes from 1948 (see GRS 17710). Minutes of special sub-committees, established for specific, short-term purposes, are also included throughout.

Volume 2 (c. 1886 - 1898) is badly water damaged and is largely unreadable. There are gaps in holdings from June 1904 to June 1909 and August 1997 to September 2000.
